What is Clickstarter? 

Clickstarter is a 5-day, fully online, completely free mini course focused on composition and storytelling - the stuff that makes a real difference, on any camera, even your phone.

Expect this from our course: 

  • practical lessons with daily challenges
  • focus on what you see and how you compose your photos
  • Real support - from a person, not a bot

But we won't do those things: 

  • show you how to pose babies in buckets
  • throw heavy camera jargon at you
  • tell you your settings don't matter (they do — we just save that for later)

What you need?

ALL YOU NEED is a child / children you can practice your photos on and a camera  (a camera-camera is best, but if you don't have one, a  phone camera will suffice!)


What happens in the course?

5 days - 5 lessons - 5 challenges

One lesson drops per day for five days, starting from the moment you sign up. Each one includes a short video, some reading, and a photography challenge to put it into practice straight away. The lessons are built specifically for parent photographers — capturing a wriggly toddler is a different ball game to a serene landscape, and we treat it that way.

The course is self-paced within that structure, and if you get stuck, you can ask questions and get a real answer from me or one of our instructors

Composition First

Camera settings take time to master — genuinely. So rather than rush you through them in five days and leave you more confused than when you started, Clickstarter focuses on something you can apply immediately to any device: learning to see differently. How your camera frames the world, photographic storytelling, thoughtful composition. These skills will reshape how you photograph your kids regardless of what camera you're holding.

('But what about the settings stuff?' We go deep on that in our other courses. This is your starting point.)

Although the course is self paced, you'll also have a space to ask questions and get help if you need it (a real person - one of our moderators / instructors or even me). We know people learn best when they have real life support!

Hi, I'm Ania.

I've been teaching parents to photograph their children for over 15 years — and I am a firm believer that family photography is about capturing the real, unfiltered version of your family life. Nothing posed or prettified, simply the kind of images that look exactly how the moments felt, and that break your heart a little when you find them years later. It doesn't mean your photos can't be beautiful - and a glance at our student gallery will show you that! 

Clickstarter is where I'd start if I were you.I created this course to address the exact things that I saw a lot of our students struggle with at the start of their photo journeys. I think it may do the same for you.

DO I NEED A FANCY CAMERA TO TAKE PART?

In short - NO. Ideally, you will have A camera - it definitely doesn’t need to be big or fancy. However, if all you have is your phone camera - you can still join - we won’t be going into anything technical at this stage, and most of what we will be doing will work for phone cameras too. This course is about teaching you to see things a bit differently, and that you can do with any device. 

WHERE IS THE COURSE DELIVERED?

We run this course on our own learning platform: photoparents.mn.co. You will need to set up a free account to access the course and you'll be able to view the content either via a browser or a dedicated phone app - whatever's easiest.  

DO I NEED TO BE ONLINE AT A SPECIFIC TIME?

No. Your lesson releases once a day at the same time you signed up, and it's yours from that point on. Do it whenever suits you.

DO I NEED PRIOR PHOTOGRAPHY KNOWLEDGE?

No. We get a real range -  complete beginners through to seasoned clickers. Everyone takes something from it.

WHY DON'T YOU COVER CAMERA SETTINGS? 

Let's get this thing straight - I won't tell you that your camera settings don't matter - they do. Unnderstanding what your camera does and how you control it is literally how you can reliably, predicatbly ensure that what you dreamt up in your head can be created in your camera. But when you start up, other things will make more of an impact - and that's what we're focusing on. If you want to learn the settings - we have 2 full size courses that go through it in details in our main course roster.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE PAYMENT INFORMATION?

NOPE. This is not a trial. There is nothing to cancel after you completed the lessons. Simple and straightforward.
